DW -- Inside Trump's radical economics playbook

I’ll hand it to the 41 pages of Stephen Miran’s “User’s Guide to Restructuring the Global Trading System” that they are intriguingly written from an economics point of view. 41 pages stuffed with economic heterodoxy, defying for example the orthodoxy that tariffs are inflationary and cleverly recombining foreign and economic policy–it’s a true document of political economy.

In the paper, Miran leans on Zoltan Poszar’s work to lay out what has been widely discussed as the “Mar-a-Lago Accord”–an approach to devalue the Dollar vis-a-vis other currencies and to reduce debt service costs for the US.

I had great fun digging into the story to tell it for DW’s audience, gathering nearly 250,000 views on Youtube English alone. The pitch for the story said: Under 10 minutes, just one talking head and no presenter.

That worked through old archive video material and great graphics to explain how bond and foreign exchange markets work. And a huge shoutout goes to Daniel McDowell who talked me through the story and made it lively with his presence.

I’d really like to know how many downloads Miran’s paper logged since it was so widely reported on.
